Abstract

This paper provides a palaeopalynological interpretation from five holes in a so named "campo de hoyos" belonging to Cogotas I culture. Problems about the interpretation of this kind of deposits are discussed. Cerealia pollen is the clearest indicator of culture in the pollen diagram to be interpreted. In this way, palaeoecological indicators show a cereal agricultural economy near the site as well as a pastoral activity in a deforested context with xerophytic and nitrophilous communities. Archaeological and archaeobotanical sequences let us define an anthropogenic agrarian landscape.
