Abstract

It is not the author's intention to reel off or revise the basic principles of constructivism once again, but to find out to what extent and in which way this approach, and particularly a socio-cultural constructivism is adequate and useful in the development and treatment of education for consumption; with this same purpose we turn to other complementary perspectives. All things considered, the constructivist perspective that we suggest allows us to obtain not only characteristic methodological benefits of an interpretation of learning and knowledge as a shared and co-constructed process, but also other essential aspects and dimensions such as values and attitudes, also shared and co-constructed, in the taking of decisions and in a solidary and cooperative performance, to provide a global view and treatment of education for consumption.
