Leiomiosarcoma primario nasosinusal con origen en cornete mediocaso clínico y revisión de la literatura

Resumen

Los leiomiosarcomas constituyen una variedad muy poco frecuente de tumores nasales o de senos paranasales y por ello su diagnóstico no se sospecha hasta que se realiza biopsia y se estudia la pieza. Su sintomatología es muy similar a la de otros tumores malignos con asiento en esas regiones. Principalmente consiste en dificultad respiratoria nasal, epistaxis, rinorrea y dolor en grado variable. Su diagnóstico histológico se basa en la demostración de un tumor de células musculares lisas con sus criterios morfológicos e inmunohistoquímicos y en la demostración de malignidad. El tratamiento se fundamenta en cirugía con amplio margen de tejido sano ya que no son sensibles a quimioterapia o radioterapia aunque se utilicen en un intento de aumentar la supervivencia. A pesar de todo su pronóstico es muy malo. Presentamos un caso de un voluminoso y extenso leiomiosarcoma nasosinusal con origen en el cornete medio. Describimos las características morfológicas e inmunohistoquímicas de estos tumores y las opciones de tratamiento y realizamos una revisión de la literatura publicada acerca de estos tumores.
