Resumen

Al contrario que en otros momentos históricos, uno de los rasgos principales de la literatura nigeriana más reciente es que, en muchos casos, está escrita por mujeres. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie es, sin duda, una de las nuevas voces que, en los últimos años, han ido emergiendo con fuerza en al ámbito de la literatura africana. Tanto su modo de entender los feminismos africanos como su interés por redibujar las imágenes preconcebidas sobre África y los africanos que, por lo general, existen en Occidente, han marcado enormemente sus obras literarias. Desde su primera novela, Purple Hibiscus (La flor púrpura), pasando por la segunda, Half of a Yellow Sun (Medio sol amarillo), hasta su colección de historias cortas, The Thing around Your Neck (Algo alrededor de tu cuello), y su obra más reciente, Americanah, Adichie ofrece múltiples y variadas representaciones sobre qué implica ser una mujer africana en el siglo XXI.
