Abstract

The application of learning-through-play methodologies for the improvement of mathematics problem solving helps to enhance the motivation, self-esteem and selfconfidence, and to generate metacognitive abilities that may spread out to other subjects and beyond the school environment. A phase-based working program involving learningthrough-play with students of third year of Primary Education has been developed. Working in groups promotes empathy among group members, favoring an adequate environment to achieve the desired learning. Results obtained before the interventional program was started and once it was completed are comparatively presented. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the training program in problem solving.
