Resumen

This paper aims at proving that students of Translation may easily acquaint themselves with business English and acquire a solid general knowledge of vocabulary and structures through external situations related to the occupational domain of business. Authentic texts containing a relevant amount of information on situations arising in connection to the Stock Market were chosen to use in class. Ad-hoc collaborative task-based activities were subsequently designed taking those texts as starting point. This design of activities combined with a communicative approach to the teaching-learning process proves to successfully familiarize students with the occupational domain of business, as well as develop their communicative competence in the field, two key elements in the process of training future professional translators.
