Abstract

One of the innovation projects pending development in the didactics of the Spanish languageis media literacy. There is a lot of literature that justifies the need for educommunication butthere are hardly any applications that specify the focus of attention. On the other hand, mostof the current studies focus on the need to form participatory citizens in the media to achievetheir empowerment or self-management. In this work, the priority of educating for the pro-duction of messages is questioned according to two data: 1) a survey of one hundred and fifty-five Spanish university students indicates that the use and interest in the media is mainlyfocused on reception; and 2) for a good content production, a previous good training at thereception is necessary. In this way, we advocate a continuous school education that teaches todecode the messages of the media in all its variety.A formative model focused on the learning process is proposed. Its development must con-tain the analysis of five fundamental elements: the source, the message, the channel, the hy-brid code and the receivers. In each one of them, the semiotic elements that indicate credibilityhave to be looked for with the objective of educating in the critical reception so that each stu-dent forms his own values. The method starts from the contrast of information and sources.
