Resumen

The aim of this work is the study of sandstones and silty sediments in two profiles near the town of Benegiles (northeast Zamora province). It has established the sedimentation conditions of these materials with the facies analysis, the paleocurrents control and the detailed study of the outcrop. These conclusions has allowed to determine that during the upper Eocene was developed, in the study area, a moderate-high sinuosity fluvial system. This fluvial system has worked on the silts of the eocene lacustrine system implanted in the western border of the Duero basin. The fluvial system has flowed toward the SSO, originating, in the study area, a belt of small dimensions bends. The freguent channel obstruction has caused its overflow, generating spill lobes on the flood plains. The channel obstruction could happen the change of the channels direction, being abandoned the bend
