Resumen
The Ph. D. Thesis one of the authors of this paper (Nespereira, 2007) entailed the preparation of a detailed geological mapping on a 1/25,000 scale of the urban city area of Salamanca. These detailed observations have allowed us to contribute some clarifications to both the geomorphological map and the geological map, 1/50,000 scale, No. 478 (Salamanca) (Santisteban et al. 2000). The three main points are the following: 1) the establishing of a middle or upper middle Miocene age for the onset of the fluvial incision of the Tormes River; 2) the definition of a silt surface of the Duero Basin in the studied area, and 3) the development of the present fluvial landscape of the area as the result of a particular erosive and denudational model linked to the progressive excavation of the Tormes River Valley.
