Abstract
During the second half of the 20th Century, the Christian Democrat political parties have played a decisive role in post-war western Europe in the consolidation of democratic institutions, in the development of the Welfare State, and in the genesis and construction of the European Union, and in different Latin American countries they have participated actively in the processes of transition to democracy. This article reviews and comments the latest inputs in the study of Christian Democrat parties in Western Europe and Latin America. This bibliographic review allows the author to make a general assessment of the issue in this field of research and detect deficits and areas and topics that have to be studied, and which are more evident in Latin America.
