Résumé

The quality of working life is a broad concept that encompasses all work-related conditions that are relevant to the health, welfare and worker satisfaction. It is well known that job coache´s opinions in regard to the factors that affect the quality of work life of the recipients of their services are important to propose organizational improvements. The aims of this study are: 1) to assess the perceptions of job coaches on the quality of work life of employees with intellectual disabilities working in supported employment, 2) to analyze - from the trainer´s perspective - the job demands and resources that affect disabled workers. 3) to describe the characteristics that organizations require in order to improve the quality of work life of workers with special needs. We have analyzed the viewpoints of 15 job coaches using qualitative methodologies through the process of focus groups and also by analyzing the textual fragments. The results obtained demonstrate that the quality of working life is a multidimensional construct consisting of objective and subjective factors that impact on the demands and resources in the satisfaction perceived by the workers of supported employment. Furthermore, organizations must work to improve employment outcomes for workers with disabilities. Finally, organizational change strategies are proposed to improve the employment´s oriented standard services of people with intellectual disabilities.
