Résumé

Our study begins with a review of what the Spanish drama has been, and of its environment during the last years of the 20 century. We do not concentrate on the so-called drama crisis, understood as political crisis, but on the contributions made by playwrights belonging or not to a determined generation, and we outline the controversy which has been the centre of the questioning of the existence of theatre generations. We set in context Paloma Pedrero's dramaturgy within the outlook of the more contemporary drama together with those playwrights called alternative who represent the continuation of the Association of Women Playwrights in 1936 to the creation of Marías Guerreras in 2001. Our personal orientation manifests itself clearly in the research and study of the second part of this work. Through the method of deductive analysis we show the fact that a theatre piece can give rise to several different interpretations, all of them equally valid. We have analysed eighteen theatre pieces basing the hypotheses on authority criteria. Although the proposed semiological approach is simple in its tautological structure, we consider necessary to repeat the analytical structure as we are analysing eighteen theatre pieces individually.
