Abstract

In 1912 Anna Franchi writes and represents the play Burchiello. What interest can find a young journalist, writer, left-wing militant and very active in the campaign in favor of the women rights in an Italian comic poet of the fifteenth century? If we analyse her works in these years, we realize that the Florentine poet interests her mostly because he is different on a personal, political and intellectual level and she admires him because she also shares with him the same vision of the homeland.
