Abstract

Surface properties of the palygorskite of Bercimuel (Segovia.Spain) and outgassing conditions more suitables are studied. The outgassing process is carried out at unchanging pressure and time, modifing the temperature in rising form. BET surface areas are measured at each temperature obtaining the highest value to outgassing at 70eC of temperature, vacuum of 10'6 mm of Hg and a time of 2 hours. Once this cleaning conditions of the sample are selected, the adsorption-desorption of nitrogen at 77K isotherm and the porosimetry of mercury study are made. In accordance with the obtained results is possible to deduce that the sample corresponds to a not microporous adsorvent, locating the porosity in the mesoporosity range minor of 30nm, with a surface area value of 180-190 m2g 1 adsorbent.
