Abstract

The Spanish scientific edition is largely channelled through the publications’ services of the universities. These have been incorporating different scientific and editorial practices into their publication systems, generating a system of information transfer that has crystallized, mainly, in two types of publications: scientific mo-nographs, on the one hand, organized into collections, and scientific journals by other. However, while scientific journals have largely adopted the philosophy of open science, the monographs show a strong reluctance to it, both programmatically and operationally, constituting this aspect one of the most important challenges of the edition Spanish university This chapter analyses the open access policies of the university collections of monographs, establishing a weighting and assessment of their degree of openness, when there is one, and their perspectives.
