Abstract

The constant and deep changes generated for all organizations of society in recent years have resulted to new training needs that require new curricula and teaching in systems and processes. Thus, there has been an approach based on competency-based training, the use of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) as tools for learning and the pursuit of lifelong learning. In this sense, information competence has been postulated as a core skill for citizens of the Information Society. In that context, the present research, funded by the Research Programme I + D + I (EDU2009-08753) from Spain, has tried to carry out the adaptation of a scale suitable for a diagnostic evaluation of future secondary school teachers currently studying a Master's degree in teacher education and compulsory secondary education school, about their perceived information competence. An essential element in the generation and acquisition of knowledge is the ability to use properly the information contained in documents and electronic resources from the new context of information networks.
