Resumo

Fibromyalgia largely affects the life qua-lity of people suffering from it, as well as its functionality, especially if the person has comorbid symptoms of anxiety and/or depression, which highlights the importan-ce of psychological treatment. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of two brief cognitive-behavioral treatments in people with a fibromyalgia diagnosis and emotional involvement. A total of 44 people enrolled in thestudy (42 female, 2 male), di-vided within two treatment groups: one of them made only with conventional compo-nents of cognitive-behavioral therapy (group A) and the other with the same components plus an added component of emotional ex-pression through drawing (group B). Signi-ficantly better scores were found (p <0.05) after applying any of the two treatments in the following areas: functionality, pain per-ception, anxiety, depression, catastrophism, fear of movement, active coping strategies and self-efficacy perception. It is concluded that the results obtained support the effica-cy of both cognitive-behavioral treatments for people with fibromyalgia and emotional involvement.
