Abstract

In the first decade of the 21st century there has been a considerable urban growth among Spanish cities. The causes have been diverse and the territorial effects important. Tradi tionally, research has focused its attention on the phenomena that have occurred in large metropolitan areas, paying little attention to medium-size cities. However, in some of them, intense processes of population and housing growth have occurred. The cadastre is an of ficial source of information that allows us to accurately study the changes produced at a temporal and territorial level. In this study, the urban dynamics of Toledo and, more specifical ly, of the urban area of the city, are analyzed. To do this, a group of municipalities located within less than 30 kilometers has been select ed, paying attention to both the population and the real estate. The analyzed period goes from 2000 to 2016, differentiating the behaviors happened between 2000-2008 and 2009-2016.
