Resum
The importance of the labour factor in the influx and settlement of immigrants in Spain is evidenced by the high labour participation shown in the period 2002-2018. In spite of their worse position in comparison with the autochthonous population (21% unemploy-ment in 2018, compared to 14.1%), immigrants’ labour participation is higher than that of Spaniards by 14.8 points (Economic and Social Council of Spain, 2019), with an acti-vity rate of around 72.5% (Immigration Yearbook, CIDOB, FOESSA Foundation, 2018); 14.1%, compared to 72.5% (CES, 2019). This work shows the motivations that drive the immigrant population to undertake and the typology of undertakings that they undertake
