Abstract

The microstructures of garnet grains in coronas from the upper slice of the HP-HT Sobrado Unit (Upper Allochthon, Órdenes Complex, NW Iberia) have been mapped using automated EBSD (Electron backscattering diffraction). Pole figures and inverse pole figures are presented in order to evaluate the crystallographic preferred orientation of two types of garnets in coronas. In both cases their intraphase misorientation maps have been compared. Furthermore the interphase misorientation angle distribution, either correlated or uncorrelated, is used to analyse the type of deformation that produces this microstructure and try to explain the crystallographic preferred orientation in the garnets.
