Résumé

Preferred orientation of crystallites or texture in rocks is an intrinsic feature of many polycrystals. It has an impact on the physical properties of the aggregate, like the propagation of seismic waves, mechanical strengh, magnetic susceptibility and termal conductivity. In particular the directional dependency of properties or anisotropy is closely related to texture. Texture interpretation has to rely on quantitative analyses. Several techniques are available like neutron diffraction, EBSD-SEM or x-ray diffraction. We disscus here basic methodological issues and a comparison of those techniques are presented for their application to the analysis of tectonites.
