Zusammenfassung

e-Research into communications in Venezuela Information and communication technologies have changed the way researchers approach their studies: new tools and methods that overcome the barriers of distance and time enable them to build wide-ranging collaborations at national and international levels, as well as to manage vast amounts of data. The intensive use of these digital tools has come to be known as e-Research. Scholars view eResearch positively, but they demand for greater training in the tools and methods. Studies also reveal a significant gap between the advanced state of e-Research in the natural sciences and lower levels of adoption in the social sciences, as well as showing a gap between regions and countries in terms of available resources for the development of e-Research. This paper analyses the current state of e-Research into communications in Venezuela, its advances and trends and how it differs when compared to the situation internationally, regionally and in respect of other disciplines from the literature review to the interviews with leading communications researchers.
