Abstract
Some zoological terms collected in the nomina animalium of Polemius Silvius� Laterculus turn out to be unknown and difficult to identify. Sometimes by the appropriate corrections or by the resort to written testimonies from the Greco-roman zoological tradition, the identification of the forms hidden behind an unrecognizable appearance becomes possible. Other times, at least, some hypothesis on the interpretation of these terms can be formulated.
