Abstract
Archiving documents in repositories is the green path to open access to knowledge. Institutional repositories have been considered as one of the major conceptual and technological revolutions in the field of scientific publishing, facilitating the rapid and widespread dissemination of research results. The number of repositories in the world has been increasing since the late eighties of the last century. This international growth has also occurred in the case of Spain. The aim of this paper is to observe the evolution and future of institutional repositories in Spain within the framework of Open Science, taking into account that from March 2020 the world situa-tion in all aspects is undergoing major changes due to the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.
