Résumé

The current severe coronavirus pandemic brings to mind the terrible mortality caused by the 1918 influenza. This article explores how that epidemic affected a rural region in León and Zamora provinces of northwest Spain. Small towns were immersed in the disease with extremely limited remedies to combat it. Despite the years, medical advances and economic development, the situation today presents several parallels with the health crisis of a century ago.
