Resumo
The yellow fever epidemic that originated in Andalusia and spread out in the late summer of 1800 was the first in a series of epidemics that marked the first decades of the new century in Spain. The University of Salamanca reacted by cancelling its classes and delaying the start of the course until January of the following year. This paper describes that process and the measures taken by the university senate, showing attitudes and reactions that acquire, in the present context, a renewed significance.
