Abstract

Education is the basis for the development of society, and its prioritization by a stateor nation is fundamental to achieve comprehensive social transformation. Itsabsence, poor quality or limited access, originate deep inequalities, high povertyrates, intergenerational illiteracy, low self-esteem and scarce employment generation. In this context, entrepreneurship emerges as an alternative for the progress of localeconomies, mainly led by women. The objective of the study was to design anEducommunication model for the training of women entrepreneurs, which promotesthe strengthening of their skills and abilities. To this end, a mixed qualitativequantitativemethod was used, with the participation of three women's associations:mestizo, indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian from the Province of Imbabura in Ecuador. The results of the research indicate that around 79% of the participating women didnot complete their studies at the different levels offered by the formal educationsystem in the country. In addition, training options are scarce, dispersed and do notrespond to their socio-economic reality. In response to this reality, theEducommunication model was built in a participatory way, with emphasis on genderequity and interculturality, as a tool to reduce the poverty gap in the rural sector.
