The strain rate at the crack tip is a variable of interest in EAC processes. However, the mathematical complexity of solving the contour problem (double non-linearity) makes it necessary to use numerical methods that, although offering approximate results for the mechanical variables under study, they make it difficult to study the variables obtained in relation to the variables stress and material properties, also consuming a long time for modelling and calculation. Using a high-resolution FEM, this study analyses the deformation field at the crack tip as a function of the stress intensity factor, rigorously defining the deformation speed at the crack tip surface. From the results obtained, a mathematical expression is established between the local deformation speed (crack tip) and the stress kinematic variable, in terms of the SIF, which includes the properties of the material. This analytical expression of the local deformation rate could shed light on various phenomena associated with EAC processes applying time-dependent stresses and also on aspects observed in corrosion-fatigue processes.
