Abstract
We present a proposal that combines teaching with university social responsibility, through service learning methodologies. Opening teaching to collaboration with social institutions, it is about improving university education by providing a service to society, consisting of improving the integration of environmental education for sustainability in schools in the city and province of Salamanca. After an initial pilot project and the subsequent creation of a network of community school gardens, during six academic years, and with a perspective of continuity, the pedagogical validity of this training proposal has been demonstrated for all participating students, both university and school.
