Abstract
The current democracy needs the legislative impulse of the citizens to improve their representation. The popular legislative initiative has played a secondary role in Spanish autonomous community. The causes have been the questionable material limits, and a high number of signatures required. However, the laws passed in recent years in some regions have improved the effectiveness of the instrument. We are going to analyze the changes introduced and the practical impact of the initiative.
