During the year 2011-12 we have conducted the teaching, for the second time, in the subjects of Physical Fundamentals of Computer Engineering Degrees. To address the difficulties encountered during the first year we focused our efforts on changing our system of laboratory practice and ongoing evaluation, and in particular the system of assessment of laboratory practice through activities that involved the efficient use of ICT. This new form of experimental practices and questionnaires has led to differences in the behavior of the students in the laboratory. The fact that the students should solve a questionnaire at the end of each practice has greatly helped them to improve the homework in advance (by previously performing a comprehensive reading of the script) and the laboratory performance has been well above what we noticed in other academic courses. This performance has also helped the students to understand the foundations and theoretical aspects of each practice and of the entire course. Among the results to be highlighted is the reduction in the number of students that goes off in the early weeks of the course and the number of students not presented to the final examination. We also detected a success rate higher than that of the last year, and an increase in the average grade of students who pass the course.
