Abstract

We present the results of a teaching experience conducted in the first quarter of the 2012-2013 academic year, consisting of the use of motion picture fragments as a support resource for the teaching of electronics in degrees related to the engineering field. This teaching experiment was carried out in two groups with a different number of students, a medium size group and a small group. The methodology employed was to use pieces of fiction films to discuss different aspects of electronics, so serving as a tool for carrying out works in small groups. Taking as a starting point a science fiction movie with technologically plausible bases for the gadgets displayed on screen, we held a discussion with the students about the state-of-the-art of certain aspects related to electronics, identifying several potential topics on which students had to make a monographic work in small groups. The reception of the activity by the students was positive: timely use of fictional elements (short movie clips) as a teaching support tool may be interesting to consider in this area, beyond the areas where it has been used usually, such as medicine or law.
