Resumo

The aim of this work was to organize activities of different Pharmacy Degree subjects as presentations of works in the format of communications to scientific congresses. The total immersion that Second Life platform provides and its ability to simulate real scenarios and situations, let us perform on-site activities without physically meet students and teachers. The activities were carried out in previously created USALPHARMA island facilities. We selected three subjects in which the students worked in groups. The students had to get the equipment and acquire the minimum skills to manage the virtual environment previously the practices. A questionnaire to assess student satisfaction with practice was designed. The students were registered at each USALPHARMA congress headquarters and emailed their communications in póster format in the prefixed term. The works were exhibited for a week and all participants had to visit the congress. Later on, there were meetings of teachers and students for the works defense and discussion. The content and presentation of the póster, oral presentation and intervention in the debates were assessed. The works submitted for the three performed activities mostly covered expectations in terms of structure and content. Main deficiencies were about the adaptation of the content to póster format. Technical requirements were no limitation to carry out activities. In addition to the learning results from the specific activity performed, this innovative teaching methodology increases students training in transversal competences, facilitates student-teacher and among students relationships and decreases the activities costs.
