Abstract

University guidance is essential for the integral development of students, since it is understood as an element of counselling and education that leads to the professional world. In this sense, Royal Decree 1393/2007 emphasizes the value of university guidance through specific support organizations both for the welcoming of new students and the development of the educational process at university. Aiming to know the reality of the University of Salamanca, more precisely of the Degree in Pedagogy, we sent graduates a Likert-type questionnaire (1-strongly disagree, 2-somewhat disagree, 3-agree, 4-somewhat agree, 5-strongly agree) through Google Drive, which was divided in six sections, one of them being the guidance received during their studies. This dimension, made up by 22 items, allows us to explore the value that graduates place on the academic, professional and personal guidance that they received during their time at university. Out of the 203 graduates that composed the population of study, 42 had responded the questionnaire as of May 2018. The answers informed of a deficit in professional (=2,92) and personal guidance (=2,76), while academic guidance was perceived as adequate, albeit not remarkable (=3,35). The results evidence the need to foster the improvement of the guidance services provided in the Faculty of Education of the University of Salamanca.
