Resum

The research and conservation of Mesozoic fossil sites of dinosaur, plants, fish and reptiles from Sierra de la Demanda (southeast of Burgos province) has increased since 1999. This increase has allowed a higher visibility of this palaeontological heritage at local, national and international levels, a growth of the local socio-economic activity, a raise of awareness of citizens about the importance of this heritage and an effective protection of these palaeontological sites. The number of fossil sites is high, mainly related with tracks and eggshell fragments. During the last years, the initiative of a local association (Colectivo Arqueológico y Paleontológico de Salas), with the help of public and cultural institutions has promoted projects for the preservation, protection, interpretation and valuing of this ichnological heritage. These projects are integrated in the Museo de Dinosaurios de Salas de los Infantes which serves as an interpretion centre for the local palaeontology. This paper describes the activities carried out to promote the palaeontological heritage management in the Sierra de la Demanda, especially the actions referred to dinosaur tracksites. It also highlights the main difficulties found and the strategies followed to improve the aforementioned management.
