Resum

The main objective of this paper is to support the need and relevance of working on emotional education in the initial training of social educators. This foundation is based on the conceptualization of the profession of social educators, of their fields and functions, and of the meaning of emotional education as a personal development strategy. The training proposal that is proposed, therefore, is not aimed at providing professionals with tools to develop emotional competencies in others, but rather to develop their own competencies, as a guarantee of well-being and as a preventive tool to face the multiple challenges of their professional practice, avoiding feelings of discomfort, uncertainty, or frustration. As a result of the theoretical discussion, some strategies are proposed that have been worked on, among which the training of university teachers stands out.
