Résumé

In this article, I offer a comparative analysis between Comendador Ludueña’s “Doctrinal de gentileza” (published in the Cancionero general, 1514) and the Espejo de gentileza, which Luis Hurtado de Toledo printed in 1557, based on the “Doctrinal de gentileza.” It is an intriguing example of the ways in which songbook poetry from the fifteenth century is read, reinterpreted, and rewritten in the sixteenth-century, a period of continuous poetical innovations. Apart from this analysis, I formulate a series of reflections on poetical plagiarism (hurto) at the time.
