Resumen

The generally accepted interpretation of coins recovered in funerary contexts has been linked to the Charon myth. Today it is evident that these coins need to be evaluated in relation to the type of burial and the grave goods. We present the result of our revision and reflection on numismatic finds in children’s burials. The funerary treatment of this group of the population is different and this is reflected in the archaeological record. The revision of the number of coins deposited with each individual, their location within the burial, the possible selection of types of coins and their values as well as their use, etc. allow us to approach possible meanings of these practices and their differences and/or similarities with the deposits made for adults.
