The development and application of digital systems for representing of textual information has involved a large number of disruptive phenomena in relation to practices, forms of transmission or documentary typologies developed over the centuries in the so-called analogue or printed culture. The latest advances related to the capacity and adequacy of the digital medium for representation and access to written culture have given rise to new forms of editing, among which is the archive edition. This paper considers the implications of these new forms of transmission of written culture, from the perspective of reading and reader, the established roles related to certain reading modalities, according to certain needs and / or level of competence.
