Abstract

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the revised Gough Dissimulation Scale (Ds-r) proves to maintain similar diagnostic accuracy and predictive power values to those provided by the best validity scales for detecting overreporting in the Spanish adaptation of the MMPI-2-RF (2009). With this objective in mind, two groups were allocated: the control group, consisting of 309 individuals, who answered the questionnaire honestly (Honest), and the experimental group, consisting of 261 persons, who were instructed to fake bad in order to receive a reward (Simulators). The multiple statistical analyses carried out, especially diagnostic accuracy and predictive power through a ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) curve, prove that results are similar to those provided by the best scales (F-r and Fp-r) and statistically higher to those provided by the FBS-r and Fs scales. This makes the Ds-r scale a solid candidate to become part of the MMPI-2-RF validity scales.
