Abstract

The aim was to identify the presence of stage anxiety during the staging of an artistic-expressive creation process. The study involved 105 participants -85 men and 20 women- with an average age of 19.99±2.78 years, enrolled in the Dance and Body Expression course of the Physical Activity and Sport Sciences degree at EUSES, University of Girona. The data were collected through a group report written by the students on the creation process. Each of the coded references -N=131- was linked to stage anxiety -absence and/or presence- and the moment of the performance -before, during and after-. The chisquare test (p<.05) revealed that there is an association between stage anxiety and different moments of the performance. The testimonies mentioning stage anxiety are associated with the moments before the performance -77.1%; adjusted residual 7.9-; whereas the testimonies of absence of stage anxiety are associated with the moment after -37.5%; adjusted residual 4.3-. The moststriking result is that the testimonies of the absence of stage anxiety during the performance are less than would be expected in the absence of association -54.9%; adjusted residual 3.2. The identification of the behaviour of stage anxiety in the different moments of the final performance will allow us to analyse the factors that trigger (and trigger) this phenomenon, as well as the establishment of didactic measures for a favourable regulation
