Abstract

Visual agnosia refers to an incapacity torecognize and/or indentify known stimuli, byvisual pathway, in absence of basic visuoperceptive sensorial deficit; and it cannot beexplained by an aphasic disorder oratentional/intellectual deficits. Objectrecognition will depend on its distinctivefeatures that are able to activate thecorresponding sensory (structurals), semantic and conceptual representations. Inthe first place, we will analyze how visualprocessing is made by the neuroanatomicalstudy and the main models of visualprocessing. Then, we will focus on theanalysis of clinical features of visual agnosiafor objects, simultagnosia, color agnosiaand pure alexia. Finally, we will present anapproach of main aspects to take intoaccount when assessing visual gnosicperformances.
