Abstract

α-oxodithioesters even those showing hydrogens α to the carbonyl group, can be obtained from the readly availible β-ketosulfones, sufur and triethylamine followed by alkylation. Yields are from moderate to high except in the case of β-monosuvstituted α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds
