Résumé

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with a prevalence in the Spanish population of 6.8?%, 96.6?% of which is type II diabetes mellitus. Taking this disease as a major health problem, the aim of this study is the proactive search from the pharmacy office for problems related to medication or negative results of medications in order to solve them and improve their quality of life. In the first phase, patients were screened for inclusion in the study and then surveys were carried out to collect the information necessary for the work. Thanks to the results we obtained, we were able to see that many patients had DRPs and NRMs that could be remediable if detected, such as insufficiently treated health problems, potential interaction, or likelihood of adverse effects. In addition, the patient treated with metformin monotherapy was more likely to suffer adverse reactions or drug derived DRPs. Thus, the pharmacist’s intervention in the detection and resolution of these problems leads to the improvement of the diabetic patient’s quality of life.
