Abstract

In this paper the relationship between the Mina Saturno mineralizations and the Masueco- Valderrodrigo Shear Zone are studied. Quartz veins mineralizated and associated hidrothermal alterations are intensively deformed on surface. Nevertheless, one of the drills made by St. Joe Minera de Espaha in 1982, cuts the most important vein swarm outside the main deformation band of the shear zone, where the mineralization are undeformed, indicating its pre-shear origin. This fact, together with the relationships between the veins and the shear zone with the nearby granitoids and the third regional deformation phase, allows to suggest that mineralizations are related with the tensional cracks associated to this deformation phase. On the other hand, the geochemical and mineralogical characteristic of this deposit are very similar to those of rest of W-As-Au deposits that form the Barruecopardo district (Salamanca).
