Abstract

In patients who present with advanced gastrointestinal cancer who may be overcome by an incurable, progressive condition, supportive treatment is fundamental to improving quality of life and promoting the patient's autonomy through an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach. In gastrointestinal tumors, the main complications that may occur are obstructive problems (in the bile duct or bowel area), symptoms of nausea and vomiting, constipation, ascites, or cachexia-anorexia syndrome. Early identification and treatment are key to patients’ well-being.
