Abstract

Science Fiction is a genre of fiction which has been directly influenced by the literary imagery from the Englishspeaking world. Moreover, Science Fiction is generally associated with an outlook of posthumanism and pollution, as it can be seen in the well-known movie Matrix (1999). Nevertheless, it could be interesting to study which other options regarding film production for this genre in particular may exist in current cinema and especially in Spanish cinema. We propose to analyse the Spanish film EVA (2011) by Enrique Maillo using different critical models from José Luis Molinuevo, Domingo Hernández and Pilar Vega Rodríguez. We will focus our study on how this pessimistic outlook of tragic posthumanism becomes more welcoming and optimistic.
