Resumen

By viewing some relations of events that disclose horrible and amazing cases, kept in poetical pam-phlets of the XVI century, we were able to notice that there are examples of well and badly dying related to the ars moriendi’s success of the time. However, the civil and providential punishments clearly pre-vail as an answer to the shameful and violent acts there narrated.It’s evident that the consciousness of death as always deeply preoccupied the human being. Death could take place, during the Golden Centuries, in many ways, from the natural death to different violent forms as the ones produced by wars, plagues and natural disasters, etc. The crisis that starts to show in the middle of the 15 century, a religion based, in many occasions, in fear, specially after the Council of Trento, as well as other socio-political aspects of the moment, explain at a large extent the proliferation of news, the relations of events in which the violence, in its several manifestations, functions as an element that causes rejection and at the same time attraction, explaining the enormous success in selling and disseminating these horrible and amazing cases during centuries
