Resumen

Introducción: La importancia de la estética gingival ha dado lugar a la publicación de varios índices para evaluarla sobre restauraciones unitarias implantosoportadas, el más utilizado en la bibliografía revisada es el índice para la puntuación de la estética rosa(PES).Objetivo: Estudiar los factores influyentes en la valoración estética de la encía en restauraciones y dientes naturales. Material y Método: Búsqueda en la base de datos Pubmed-Medline con las palabras clave “soft tissues”, “papilla”, “dental implants”, “gingival margin” y “esthetics”.Resultados: El índice PES es un índice de valoración utilizado como referencia en la mayoría de las publicaciones consultadas. Se seleccionaron 25 artículos, tomando como criterio la utilización del índice PES en su metodología. Discusión: El PES es un instrumento adecuado para la valoración objetiva del tejido gingival alrededor de implantes unitarios, evalúa siete parámetros: papila mesial, papiladistal, nivel del margen del tejido blando, contorno del tejido blando, proceso alveolar, color del tejido blando y textura del tejido blando. Estos parámetros se evalúan alrededor del implante en comparación con un diente natural de referencia. En general, las papilas son los parámetros más reproducibles mientras que el color es uno de los más difíciles de reproducir. Es importante conocer la causa de la pérdida del diente natural puesto que puede dificultar la reproducibilidad de la altura del proceso alveolar. Los autores apuntan como elemento importante el biotipo gingival del sujeto. Conclusiones: La puntuación de la estética rosa (PES) valora el tejido blando alrededor de implantes unitarios y sirve para evaluar diferentes procedimientos prostodóncicos y quirúrgicos de forma objetiva. La apariencia de la encía debe ser un requisito indispensable que se debe tener en cuenta tanto en dientes naturales como en restauraciones dento e implantosoportadas.
