Zusammenfassung

The study of emotion, and its links to various physiological and social processes seems to play a great role in the XXI century. The aim of this study seeks to explore, through a bibliometric approach, the development of scientific production on this topic, emotion, discriminating Spain's role in such development. To do this, from a search of studies published from the end of XX century (1999), to 2013, to including in the field «title» of Web of Knowledge, the word «emotion» or related words have been compared, using the setting of the Price’s Law, the development of the discipline in Spain and the rest of the world. Spanish sources and authorships with greater contribution in such development have also been described. The results allow us to see that the growth in the research related to the area of emotion has been exponential. This exponential growth has been higher among Spanish researchers. The implications of this phenomenon and the challenges and opportunities for the Spanish psychology are discussed.
